My name is Mona Jean Reed. I’m a Christian, an optimist and a romantic. I love to write and to teach. My hobbies are gardening, history, cooking and having fun–hosting parties is a particular favorite. I think of life as one big adventure.
I’ve been writing since the late 1980’s. Even though there’s always another tweak or hack to wrestle with, I’ve learned a lot about what works in writing stories that people want to buy. I’ll pass along what I’ve learned hoping that in writing your stories, you won’t need to crash into as many brick walls as I have.
What do I know about writers crashing into brick walls? Trust me, I know. There are few writing mistakes that I haven’t committed. Especially, I regret all those years when I didn’t think I could write even one novel or get it published by a real publisher (not a vanity press). As you can see by this page of this website, I write well enough for someone to publish my work, and pay me for it.
I want your books to come faster, with less discouragement, fewer dead ends and less wasted time than mine have. for that reason, I’ve included a blog as part of this website. Click the blog tab for writing discussion, and other things. Other things? I’ve been a widow since 2005. I may occasionally venture a few words that I think will help other alones to be at home, safe and comfortable all by themselves.

IF IT KILLS ME—They kidnapped Roz, took her to the Sudan and sold her as a harem slave. She escaped and now she’s being sold again. Her dad’s song becomes her song–but different, a slave’s song, a wary song of anger without the means of expression, a song of surviving–a song of escape. “Dad,” she whispered. “Somehow, I’ll get home. If it kills me. I’ll get home.”
SNARED–After they kidnapped Roz and ten other beautiful blondes, their captors expected them to knuckle under and not fight taking part in “Cap’s finishing school.” They intend to make all eleven girls the ultimate cream of harem material. These exceptional harem slaves would bring a half mil apiece, just like last year’s crop. Can Roz hold up or will they break her spirit?
RECLAIMING LITTLE MARTY–Desperately afraid of cops, the “Teflon Don of Dallas,” Little Marty Stark “talked” the first time he’d ever been arrested. Now he must disappear or die. Jess Mason, a gambling addict with the world’s biggest habit, means to keep feeding his obsession even if he has to torture or kill Marty to get his hidden wealth. Vi Kaplin, the widowed mother of a pastor wants adventure and she’s willing to defy her family to get it.
